I am a multi-faceted person, and here is a brief bio.

Hi - I am Shani Phethean-Hubble and I run the Writing in the Margins Website.

I work full-time as a personal assistant along with holding the roles of wife and mother.
Even though writing is my first love I am also an artist and craftsperson, and for many years ran Chibley Crafts.   I am often asked if I would like to concentrate full-time on my writing, but it is through the day-to-day contact with people that I obtain my inspirations.

I have written for as far back as I can remember - it is as much a part of my daily existence as breathing.  My first published and paid works were short stories for the Bristol Evening Post Pillar Box club when I was about 7 and I went on to win many poetry and writing competitions until my middle teens, when I moved on to selling short stories to women's magazines and script writing on a freelance basis.

Parenthood and the need to earn a realistic living then intervened. Whilst returning to my career, I diversified into writing articles for craft magazines, presenting and consulting on craft shows for local production companies and screenwriting collaborations, along with giving talks to local Guilds and projects.

More recently I have written a number of commissioned articles on a variety of academic
subjects, including the effects of an acquired brain-injured child on family life.  The latter with a view to changing the current system and giving hope to others.

My current projects are many, along with tutoring and running the Writing in the Margins initiative. This Autumn I am also working on expanding the Great Western Writers and working with the local church based initiative - Cedar Writers, which I am thrilled to be a part of.
